Position Summary:
The Lead Electrician oversees and performs electrical installation, maintenance, and repair work on commercial construction projects. This role ensures all electrical systems are installed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with local, state, and national codes. The Lead Electrician supervises electrical crews, coordinates with other trades, and ensures work is completed on time and to quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:

Lead, direct, and mentor electricians and apprentices on commercial construction projects.

Plan, lay out, and install electrical wiring, conduit, fixtures, panels, and equipment according to specifications and blueprints.

Read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, and plans to ensure accurate installation.

Coordinate work schedules and materials with project management and other trades.

Inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and necessary adjustments.

Ensure compliance with National Electrical Code (NEC) and company safety policies.

Troubleshoot and repair electrical issues efficiently to minimize downtime.

Train crew members on proper techniques, safety procedures, and productivity best practices.

Maintain accurate daily logs, job reports, and documentation of completed work.

Monitor progress to ensure work is completed within schedule and budget.

Communicate effectively with clients, supervisors, and project teams regarding project status and any issues.
Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent required; technical or trade school training preferred.

Journeyman or Master Electrician license (state-specific) required.

Minimum 5–7 years of commercial electrical experience, with 2+ years in a supervisory or lead role.

Extensive knowledge of commercial electrical systems, installations, and safety standards.

Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints, plans, and specifications.

Excellent problem-solving, leadership, and communication skills.

Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively.

Must possess a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
Physical Requirements:

Ability to lift up to 75 lbs and perform physical work in varying conditions.

Comfortable working at heights, in confined spaces, and around construction equipment.
Work Environment:

Work performed primarily on active commercial construction job sites.

Full-time position; overtime and weekend work may be required based on project schedules.
