Dr. Skrine provides a wide range of advanced surgical procedures, including nipple-sparing mastectomy, skin sparing mastectomy, placement of partial breast radiation catheters, hidden-scar breast surgery and oncoplastic techniques after breast conservation.

She also offers treatment for benign breast disease and breast cancer. And she performs breast biopsies, high risk breast cancer surveillance and genetic testing.

Dr. Skrine is passionate about caring for patients with breast disease. And she prides herself on providing compassionate, state-of-the-art and timely care to her patients. “My family history of breast cancer helps me empathize with my patients and support them during their journey to recovery,” she says.

She notes that the thing she loves most about her job is getting to know the people she cares for. “Knowing I can make an impact on their lives inspires me to come to work every day.”

Becoming a surgeon was inspired by her mother, a nurse practitioner, says Dr. Skrine. “She encouraged me to continue on and become a doctor, which wasn’t really an option for her as an African American woman in the 1960s.”

Dr. Skrine earned her medical degree from the Sidney Kimmel Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia. She followed that with a residency in general surgery at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey in Newark. And after that she completed a year-long fellowship in breast surgery with renowned breast surgeon Mark Gittleman, MD, at Breast Care Specialists in Allentown.

Dr. Skrine is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons. She is also an active member of several professional organizations, including the American Society of Breast Surgeons. She has also served on numerous boards and nonprofit organizations and as a medical educator throughout Pennsylvania and Texas.

Dr. Skrine is an accomplished researcher and presenter, leading a pilot study on breast cancer prevention.

In 2014, 2015 and 2018, she was recognized as a Physician Champion of Excellence She was also recognized by the Belton Foundation for her outstanding work with “Stomping Out Cancer.”

After practicing in Texas for well over a decade, Dr. Skrine returned to her native Pennsylvania at the onset of the pandemic. Originally from Pittsburgh, she enjoys spending time with her husband of 28 years and their two daughters, as well as reading, skiing and doing ballet. She notes that her faith is important to her, and she’s actively involved in her church and her community.
