Greater Susquehanna Valley Chamber Announces Strategic Leadership Transition and National CEO Search

Shamokin Dam, PA – January 13, 2026 – The Board of Directors of the Greater Susquehanna Valley Chamber of Commerce today announced that CEO / President Robert Garrett will retire effective March 31, 2026. The announcement marks the beginning of a deliberate, "New Era" succession plan designed to accelerate the Chamber’s 2-Pillar strategy: Legislative Advocacy and Workforce Development.

“Succession planning is a hallmark of a healthy, forward-looking organization,” said Jeff Reber, Board Chair. “We celebrate Bob’s years of service and the stable foundation he has provided for our member businesses. As we pivot to become the region’s definitive Legislative Shield and Workforce Bridge, we are positioned to build upon that legacy with a new leadership profile.”

The Board has launched an 11-week, regional search for an Entrepreneurial CEO to succeed Bob. This search, led by the Board Chair, will utilize a Strategic Alignment Matrix to benchmark candidates against the specific advocacy and talent-pipeline needs identified by the region’s top industry stakeholders.

“Bob Garrett’s retirement allows the Chamber to align its leadership with our next strategic cycle,” added Greg Zeh, Board Vice Chair. “Our mission is to ensure the Susquehanna Valley remains regionally competitive, and that starts with a leader equipped to drive exceptional results.”

The Chamber remains at 100% operational capacity during this transition. A celebratory event honoring Bob’s contributions to the Valley as well as acknowledging the impact of our member businesses will be held on March 27th. Stay tuned for more details.
