Students Step Forward at the Multi-District Career Fair

Earlier today, I had the great pleasure of welcoming the first 100 high school students to the Multi-District Career Fair held in the Garrett Field House at Susquehanna University. By the time the Career Fair wraps up this afternoon, about a thousand more students will be part of this fair.

My first-hand impression is that the energy in the room is unmistakable as students, educators, and employers came together for a day focused squarely on opportunitypossibility, and prosperity.

A total of 49 businesses and post-secondary institutions are participating in this year’s event, representing a wide spectrum of career paths available right here in the Greater Susquehanna Valley. From advanced manufacturing and healthcare to public service, skilled trades, and higher education, the booths lining the Field House floor showcasing the remarkable diversity of careers that await our region’s students.

What makes this year’s Career Fair particularly exciting is the level of engagement between students and employers. Many participating organizations brought employment applications with them and are conducting on-the-spot interviews with interested students. For many of these young people, today may mark the first step toward a meaningful career and a bright future in our valley.

Events like the Multi-District Career Fair are a powerful reminder that workforce development is truly a community effort. When schools, businesses, and community partners come together, we create pathways that help our students see the possibilities before them while helping employers connect with the next generation of talent.

It is truly inspiring to see so many students asking thoughtful questions, exploring new career options, and beginning to imagine their futures.

By working together, our best days lie just ahead.
