Rural communities face economic, social, and environmental challenges – but they also have the power to create solutions.
How can communities better recognize and empower their entrepreneurs, especially those from under-represented groups?
This IN-PERSON workshop will explore the role of women-led enterprises in creating a positive future. In this workshop, Professor Robyn Eversole from Bucknell University’s Freeman College of Management will share knowledge and outcomes from a women-led business development program in rural Tasmania, Australia. Participants will explore the applicability of these research findings for entrepreneurial women and sustainable local communities in rural central Pennsylvania.
Attendees will:
* Learn about the roles women-led enterprises can play in local community development;
* Hear about how an Australian initiative grew community support for women's entrepreneurship; and
* Explore opportunities to empower more women-led enterprises in rural central Pennsylvania.
A light breakfast will be available.
This workshop is supported by the Bucknell Humanities Center's Confounding Problems Program and the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, and co-sponsored by the Lewisburg Downtown Partnership, CommUnityZone, and the Greater Susquehanna Valley Chamber of Commerce.
