NORTHUMBERLAND - Zartman Construction is celebrating 50 years of construction excellence this May. Gene Zartman started the business in May of 1973 by selling patios and fireplaces before moving on to metal building erection.
Zartman started offering crane rentals in 1975 with the purchase of an 18 ton crane. In 1976, the company moved to the old Sunbury Coffin Works building on Fourth Street in Sunbury. Gene’s son David joined the company in 1983 as a Project Man- ager and has been president since Gene’s retirement in 2006.
Although Zartman got its start with metal building erection, the team quickly diversified to renovations, commercial and institutional construction. In 1991 the Industrial Services division officially became part of the business, offering millwright and rigging services.
By 2000, the team had officially outgrown their home in Sunbury and moved to the current location on Route 11 in Northumberland. In 2017, David’s son Daniel joined the company full-time as an Estimator and Project Manager. His brother Alexander joined in 2019 as a Construction Superintendent. The third generation is taking an active role in leading the team, hoping to continue Gene’s legacy for (at least) 50 more years.
Zartman Construction invites you to join us in celebrating this milestone with an Open House on May 3rd from 4:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Please tour our facility and meet with our staff while enjoying hors d’oeuvres and refreshments.
