Big things are happening here at your Chamber of Commerce. We started this new week, new month, new quarter, fully staffed. Likely you know or certainly have heard of both Kendy Alvarez and Zach Stotter. These two fantastic professionals join Jenny Wentz and me as your Chamber staff.
Just a couple of updates to tell you about Kendy and Zach:
Kendy Alvarez-Director of Events and Marketing
In this role Kendy will staff and carry out the guidance of two key Chamber committees: Events and Communications & Technology. In fact, it’s Kendy’s keen writing skills and social media expertise that is bringing you this weekly Elert. She will keep all our social media platforms humming along and filled with pertinent and timely information.
Additionally, Kendy will, along with the Communications & Technology Committee members be orchestrating our annual Innovations Summit which is coming up on December 8th at SUN Tech. We’re playing ‘catch up’ on several events that had to be re-scheduled for various reasons and Kendy is also working alongside her Events Committee members to offer upcoming events that will deliver to you and your co-workers the ‘value proposition’ of your Chamber member investment.
Not that all of that isn’t enough, Kendy is spearheading the Women’s Leadership Symposium coming up next Tuesday, October 11th, throughout downtown Lewisburg. She has the unique task of ‘recruiting her successor’ as part of the Symposium since she currently chairs our Women’s Leadership Committee. Kendy will also bring the sizzle to our Community Prosperity Alliance and re-invigorate the ‘stickiness’ that is at the core of the mission of our Young Professionals.
Kendy’s contact information is: kalvarez@gsvcc.org.
Zach Stotter-Director of Membership and Workforce
In this role Zach is the ‘go-to guy’ for all members and engagement with and between you and your fellow Chamber members. Workforce development in terms of readiness, recruitment, and retention of our local labor resources is already a personal passion for Zach.
We’re just about to roll-up on our first anniversary of the shift to a tiered membership process. This is a perfect time for Zach to jump into the process with ‘new eyes, new ears, and renewed enthusiasm’ to determine our member fulfillment successes and any potential areas of improvement. You will be hearing much more from Zach as very shortly he will begin his outreach to you and your fellow Chamber members. Our membership process re-structuring has been overseen by a select group of Chamber Board members, known as the Strategic Membership Committee. Soon, Zach will be taking their effort ‘mainstream’ with the kick-off ‘Year Two of ReMembership.’
As you’ve witnessed over the past several years, your Chamber strives to be catalyst when it comes to workforce development. We know that old solutions can’t and won’t work when it comes to dealing with the labor shortage challenges of today. Zach will bring to bear the resources and the best thinking from the members of our Agriculture, Business & Education, and our Young Americans Committees to identify, refine, and instigate workforce development strategies that will work in your company and every other valley employer.
You may find it interesting to know that Zach is an actual Young American from the Sunbury Christian Academy Class of 2003. Over its 52-year history, my guess is that this will be the first time that a Young American is staffing our Young American Committee. Zach is also a graduate of Leadership Susquehanna Valley, and he will be assisting Jenny in the operations of this critically important program.
Zach can be reached at zstotter@gsvcc.org.
Welcome aboard Kendy and Zach. Our best days lie just ahead…
