Love to go a wandering…?
This past Saturday’s Walk with a Doc, sponsored by Geisinger, hosted by your Chamber of Commerce, didn’t include a ‘mountain track’ nor nary a ‘knapsack,’ but even so it was a great time to stroll through and by the wood-and-wet lands of the Montour Preserve.
The notion behind ‘Walk with a Doc, is a community-based, physician-led walking group or groups which encourage movement and good health. Being out of the office takes the edge off the physician-patient relationship. This, in turn, creates an environment of openness and exploration on everything from the migration habits of geese to the wisdom of a heart healthy lifestyle.
In this photo you see our contingent of happy wanderers emerging from forest after a short, yet life affirming walking around the ‘figure of eight’ style loop known as the Goose Woods Trail at the Montour Preserve.
If you lean in and let your imagination grow, you can almost hear your Chamber Chairman of the Board, Art Thomas, humming: Val-de-ri—Val-de-ra…

With that, the snapshot of ‘Team Walk with a Doc’ was recorded for all times, immemorial.
No walk in the woods would ever be complete without a few pauses to admire nature, a moment or two exchanging pleasantries with a new friend, and a bit of refection along the lines of: ‘We need to do this more often.’
Thank you to the Geisinger for getting us outside and moving around on a beautiful end-of-summer-break walk in the great out-of-doors.
This perspective in this photo is a bit unique. Not often do you get to see the photo of the photo being taken. Hopefully, you can see that there’s no better way to spend a day, than walking with a doc.

Paddle Party Provides Plenty Piscatorial Pleasure
Okay, you get it, the Greater Susquehanna Valley Young Professionals had a ton of fun splashing around Lake Chillisquaque at the Montour Preserve on Saturday at the Walk, Paddle, Play event, sponsored by the Geisinger.
