Williamsport, Pa., June 21, 2023 – UPMC is offering free hernia screenings on Friday, June 30, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. These screenings are offered by appointment only at the Health Innovation Center of UPMC Williamsport, 740 High St., Suite 1003, Williamsport.

Timothy Judge, M.D., General Surgery, UPMC in North Central Pa., will conduct these hernia screenings and recommend follow-up care if necessary. A bulge that is underneath the skin in your abdominal area along with a burning, aching, or pain that worsens when lifting, coughing, or straining are all signs of a hernia.

To schedule a required appointment, call 570-321-3160, and mention the free hernia screening event.

About UPMC’s Commitment to the Community

UPMC works closely with the communities it serves to identify and prioritize significant health needs, then commits resources to address them. The total $1.5 billion in community benefits UPMC contributed last year included more community health improvement programs than any other health system in Pennsylvania – initiatives such as health screenings, programs for seniors, educational services, healthy activities for children, and wellness event sponsorships. UPMC’s community benefits contributions are calculated in accordance with IRS guidelines. The UPMC Community Benefits Report and the 2022 UPMC Community Health Needs Assessments and Implementation Plans are available online.
