Rolling up to this year’s Women’s Leadership Symposium, coming up October 11th throughout downtown Lewisburg, we recognized our 2022 Athena recipient last week. Dr. Rosemary Leeming, Chief Medical Officer of Geisinger Medical Center is this year’s honoree.
Since this recognition’s founding forty years ago, Athena honorees have helped to re-define and to bring balance to leadership voices worldwide. The past few years, with the everyday strains of the healthcare industry plus those many layers of stress added by the pandemic have been tough on all of us, particularly our heroes in medicine. Here’s what Dr. Leeming’s nominator had to say about her leadership through it all:
“Dr. Rosemary Leeming is an advocate and a role model for women leaders in healthcare and throughout our region. As Geisinger Medical Center’s chief medical officer, the first woman to hold that position in the hospital’s more than 100-year history, she has used her unique role to support women throughout the whole area. Our valley is fortunate to have a leader like Dr. Leeming, who is not only well accomplished in her career but generous with her time to mentor and share her experience with staff.”
