National Women’s Health and Fitness Day will be held from 9 am-12 noon on Wednesday, September 28th, at The Miller Center, Lewisburg. Evangelical Community Hospital is hosting the event through its Community Health and Wellness Department. The event is an open house format, no registration is required.

This event is the nation’s largest annual health promotion event for women of all ages. The event focuses attention on the importance of regular physical activity and health awareness for women. It is designed to provide an overview of resources available to women in the local area. The event will feature representatives from many local organizations and will include health screens, free golf simulator demonstrations, a vendor fair, and more.

The event also features a skin cancer prevention and treatment discussion at 9 am, presented by Daria Keyser, DO, Surgical Specialists of Evangelical.

According to the American Academy of Dermatology Association, skin cancer is the most common cancer in the United States and 1 in 5 Americans will develop skin cancer in their lifetime. Dr. Keyser will share the most seen skin cancer types, discuss risk factors, and give participants insight on how to prevent skin cancer. She will also talk about treatment options when skin cancer is found.

Due to limited space, registration is requested to attend this portion of the day’s events, by calling Evangelical Community Health and Wellness at 570-768-3200 or visiting https://www.evanhospital.com/events/health-and-wellness/national-womens-health-fitness-day.
