Greater Susquehanna Valley's Mission of Prosperity: A March of Unity and Celebration

The Greater Susquehanna Valley is set to come alive this March as commerce, culture, communities, and citizens unite in a series of inspiring events. With a diverse lineup ranging from traditional processions and festive celebrations to career fairs, committee meetings, and thought-provoking lectures, this month-long initiative reflects the region’s deep commitment to progress and community engagement.

Celebrating Heritage and Culture

The festivities kick off on March 4th in Kulpmont with the St Casimir's Procession at 12 Noon. This time-honored event honors tradition and brings community members together in a display of faith and unity. Later that same day, at 6:00 pm, Selinsgrove transforms into a hub of jubilation with a Mardi Gras Celebration at Isabella’s. Attendees will enjoy an array of festivities capped off with the indulgent tradition of King Cake, a nod to the vibrant spirit of the season.

Empowering the Workforce and Future Leaders

March also marks a strong focus on professional growth and educational advancement. On March 5th, from 9:00 am to 2:30 pm, the Greater Susquehanna Career Fair at the Garrett Sports Complex at Susquehanna University offers a pivotal opportunity for job seekers to connect with prospective employers, explore career opportunities, and engage with industry experts. Meanwhile, the Young Americans Seminar on March 18th at CSIU, Montandon, running from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm, is being designed by Natalie Fox, our fantastic group dynamics expert and programming consultant to empower the next generation with insights, networking opportunities, and the skills necessary to thrive in today’s competitive landscape.

Fostering Collaboration Through Meetings and Discussions

The region’s mission is equally anchored in collaborative governance and active community involvement. A series of committee meetings underscores this dedication:
  • On March 7th, from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm, a Member Meet-Up and Open Gallery will be held in the Haddon Board Room at the Chamber Headquarters in Shamokin Dam, providing a platform for creative expression and member engagement.
  • The Events Committee gathers on March 11th at 12 Noon at Ciao Bella Boutique in Selinsgrove to plan and strategize future community initiatives.
  • Embracing modern connectivity, the Transportation Committee will meet virtually via Zoom on March 14th at 7:30 am, ensuring seamless dialogue regardless of physical boundaries.
  • Further solidifying its commitment to leadership, the Governmental Affairs Committee Meeting is scheduled for March 21st at 11:00 am at the Susquehanna University Downtown Center in Selinsgrove.

A Vision for the Future

The highlight of the month comes on March 17th in Locust Gap, where the Member Monthly Meeting at 11:00 am will feature a spirited parade followed by the First Annual Thomas R. Rippon Lecture on the State of the Dream. This landmark lecture promises to spark thoughtful discussions about the region's aspirations and the innovative pathways toward achieving them. The month concludes with the 3rd Annual Innovations Summit on March 31st at Susquehanna University, from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm. Focusing on the transformative potential of Artificial Intelligence in Rural America, the summit aims to bridge the gap between technological advancement and the unique needs of rural communities. We owe a heaping dose of gratitude to our Technology Committee leaders Leslie Temple and Timm Moyer for keeping this year’s Summit on track and capturing the essence of the ever-changing world of AI along the way.

Bringing It All Together

This meticulously curated slate of events is a testament to the Greater Susquehanna Valley's dynamic approach to community building. It’s also a tip o’ the hat to our new Events Consultant, Bob Dressler, and to your Member Director with ‘just a month under his belt’ as of this Friday for their talent in providing radical hospitality and an unparalleled value proposition to you and your fellow members.

By intertwining commerce, culture, community engagement, and citizen participation, the region not only honors its rich heritage but also paves the way for a prosperous future. Whether through celebrating age-old traditions, empowering the workforce, or exploring innovative ideas, the Valley’s Mission of Prosperity is set to leave an indelible mark this March—one that resonates far beyond the calendar.
