Ag Committee -

The Agriculture Committee has identified the issue of Solar Power as one of great interest to the many farmers and landowners in our local rural communities. A sub-committee has been established to research the issue and is working to provide resources to our agricultural community that will help them make the most informed decisions related to the installation of solar arrays on their properties.

Young Americans -

The Young American program wrapped up the nomination process in March with seventy area outstanding seniors having been selected by their respective schools. The program will conclude with a Leadership Seminar on April 18th and a Recognition Reception on May 25th. The students also have the opportunity to participate in an essay contest for which the winner will receive a $500 Scholarship.

Business & Education Committee -

The Business & Ed Committee is working towards tanglible success stories and creating momentum to carry into the coming school year. In March, the committee worked with local school districts and area partners to plan an April Career Fair for high schoolers, as well as connecting local employers with  schools for tours aimed at middle school students, including tours of Service Electric Cablevision and Pennsylvania State Police. The committee has also sought input from employers on their struggles with recruitment of young people and is working to develop best practices that can be used by our members in engaging our young workforce and creating interest in the many careers available here in the valley.

Young Professionals Committee

After a break the GSVYP Committee is back and planning a series of events in partnership with Leadership Susquehanna Valley. Looking ahead to the Annual Paddle Party over the summer and supporting some other events through the spring like After Hours following LSV program days. Stay tuned to the GSVCC website and GSVYP facebook page for more info.

Women’s Leadership Committee

We started out Women’s History Month with an After Hours event at the GSV Chamber Office. From the SIDCO business center we enjoyed the networking and getting to know one another. We looked at a variety of images to work on the 2023 Women’s Leadership Symposium logo and theme. Stay tuned to see what we came up with. We’re going to start our request for presenters and are narrowing down locations for this year.

Communications & Technology Committee

We are working hard to get the word out. It isn’t enough for the chamber to do great things if nobody ever knows they happen. This year we’ve revamped the Weekly Elert, increased our social media presence and added a weekly video from Bob Garrett. There is more to come.
