It’s #SBDC Day!
Today marks national SBDC Day. This is the day when nearly 1000 SBDC centers nationwide unite in celebration of the hundreds of thousands of small business clients that they serve. This celebration focuses on the many, many stories of success and on the notable impact that SBDCs make on the small business community and on our society as a whole.

Your Chamber has a wonderful and ever-growing relationship with the Bucknell SBDC. This relationship can be traced back to the early days of the Bucknell SBDC when Charlie Coder, the Center’s Director, was an active and frequently-heard-from Chamber member and avid supporter. More recently, we’ve worked closely with Steve Stumbris and his crew of highly-qualified business consultants. Last year, our biennial survey of Chamber members was co-launched along with the SBDC.
Together, we learned about the training gaps that exist among our shared members and clients. Now, by working together, our two organizations can strategically focus on closing these gaps and making sure that our local small businesses are able to compete statewide, nationally and throughout the world.
Also, I wanted to mention the specific assistance, coaching and friendship that our Chamber has received from Bucknell SBDC Business Consultant, Reed Byrum. Reed serves on our Board of Directors and at the end of last year completed a highly-successful term as a Chamber Vice President. For the past few months, Reed has been laid-low with health issues. But just yesterday, he was able to call-into our Board meeting. On behalf of all the chamber members, we say: Welcome back Reed!
