By Bob Garrett, President & CEO
Locust Gap, PA, is set to host a meaningful celebration this St. Patrick's Day with the inaugural Tomas’ R. Rippon St. Patrick's Day Address on the Status of the Dream. This unique event blends tradition, community, and remembrance, inviting all to reflect on the enduring legacy of dreams and aspirations.
The day will commence at 11:00 a.m. with a solemn procession from the Locust Gap's St. John's Cemetery. This symbolic march will set the tone for a day dedicated to reflection and unity. Following the procession, attendees will gather for a special Chamber of Commerce luncheon and meeting at 11:30 a.m., fostering community connection and dialogue.
Your Chamber’s Mission is “The Prosperity of Commerce, Culture, Communities, and Citizens of the Greater Susquehanna Valley through the active engagement of its members.”
At 12:00 noon, the highlight of the event will unfold with the inaugural Tomas’ R. Rippon St. Patrick's Day Address on the Status of the Dream. Thom will trace his family roots from County Mayo, Ireland to Hershey and now Mifflinburg, Pennsylvania. This address aims to explore the ongoing pursuit of justice, opportunity, and equality while celebrating the Irish-American heritage that has contributed so significantly to the region's cultural fabric.
The festivities will conclude with a poignant memorial wreath-laying ceremony at the grave of Patrick Hester in St. Mary's Cemetery located in Beaverdale. This tribute honors the contributions of Irish immigrants and their role in shaping the community's identity and future.
The Greater Susquehanna Valley Chamber of Commerce encourages participation in this commemorative event. Registration is available online at gsvcc.org, and all are welcome to join in this powerful observance of history, remembrance, and hope.
As Locust Gap prepares to celebrate this inaugural tradition, attendees are reminded that the pursuit of dreams is not only a personal journey but a collective endeavor that continues to inspire generations to come.
By working together, Locust Gap’s and every community of the Greater Susquehanna Valley our best days lie ahead.
