January Monthly Meeting Highlights Pennsylvania Civics Bee

By Bob Garret, President & CEO

The Greater Susquehanna Valley Chamber of Commerce’s Monthly Meeting being held tomorrow, January 9th at the Lackawanna College-Sunbury Center offers a dynamic platform for members and their guests to network, collaborate, and gain valuable insights. This month’s meeting promises to be particularly engaging as it highlights the Pennsylvania Civics Bee—an exciting initiative aimed at fostering civic education and engagement across our Commonwealth.

The meeting will feature Dr. Elizabeth Bolden, Executive Director of the PA Chamber Foundation, as the keynote speaker. Dr. Bolden will share her expertise and insights about the Civics Bee, an innovative competition designed to inspire young minds to delve into the principles of democracy, government, and active citizenship. Participants in the competition will have the chance to showcase their knowledge, problem-solving skills, and passion for civic involvement.

Attendees at the Chamber meeting will hear about organizing and sponsoring Civics Bee at the School District and regional level. The event will also provide actionable insights on how businesses can support the initiative through sponsorships, mentorship, or volunteer opportunities while celebrating us all being back together after a nearly five-year hiatus from Monthly Meetings.

As always, the Monthly Meeting will serve as a networking hub, fostering connections that can lead to new collaborations and community initiatives. Whether you’re a long-time Chamber member or a first-time guest, the meeting offers an invaluable opportunity to build relationships while being informed about impactful programs like the Civics Bee.

Don’t miss this chance to be part of a conversation that matters. The Greater Susquehanna Valley Chamber of Commerce invites you to join them in championing civic education and celebrating the spirit of community engagement.
