Honoring Labor Day by Strengthening Business & Education Partnerships

As our nation prepares to celebrate Labor Day—a holiday honoring the achievements of America’s workers—it’s also an excellent moment to reflect on the vital connections between business, education, and our future workforce. Here in the Greater Susquehanna Valley, your Chamber is committed to deepening those connections through our Business and Education Committee.

We’re delighted to announce that Dr.TheresaBartholomew will join Dr.Frank Jankowski as cochair of this committee. Together, they bring the leadership and passion needed to prepare students, equip educators, and help employers thrive.

The Committee plays a key role in building bridges that ensure our regional workforce is ready for tomorrow’s challenges. Our existing programs reflect that mission:
  • Educator in the Workplace connects teachers with local employers, bringing real-world insights into the classroom.
  •
  • MultiSchool District Job Fairs give students face-to-face access to prospective employers.
  •
  • The longstanding Young Americans Program celebrates student leadership across eleven districts.
  •
  • The National Education Week Essay Contest, coming up later this year on November17th-21st, invites students to share their vision for the future and contributes meaningfully to public dialogue.
We invite Chamber members to engage with this committee—whether by supporting current initiatives or helping shape new ones. To learn more about the committee and the Chamber’s full range of activities, visit gsvcc.org or reach out directly to Bob Garrett at 570-850-6088.

Let’s honor Labor Day by investing in the workforce of tomorrow, today.

By working together, our best days lie just ahead.
