Golf Tournament Spotlights Young Americans
The 24th Annual Young Americans Golf Classic, held on September 12, 2025, at Knoebels Three Ponds Golf Course in Elysburg, proved once again that the Greater Susquehanna Valley rallies powerfully behind its future leaders.
From the early-morning registration through the last putt after the shotgun start, the day unfolded as a celebration of community, mentorship, and opportunity—exactly what the Young Americans Program has championed for six decades.
By mid-afternoon, the big tent at Three Ponds buzzed as scorecards were tallied, and golfers gathered for lunch, prizes, and reflections. Honors were awarded to the Mayberry Hospitality team consisting of Bob Dressler, Drew Pensyl, Tim Raup, and Ralph Daily bringing home 1st Place. The Truist Wealth team consisting of Nick Griffiths, Jeff Palmer, Mike Bucklin, and Travis Bolton took home 2nd Place honors. Tournament sponsor and long-time supporter, Sunbury Motors Company took 3rd Place honor with a team of Kyle Mertz, Austin Martin, Todd Klinger, and Justin Keiser.
Yet the loudest applause rose for the Young Americans Program itself. Event proceeds were designated to sustain and expand the program’s reach, enabling more students to be recognized for academic achievement, character, and community service; to meet mentors in high-demand sectors; and to explore scholarships, apprenticeships, and local career ladders.
As the sun dipped low in the west over Knoebels Three Ponds, and the Friday Night flickered on, participants left with more than memories of long drives and clutch putts. They carried forward a renewed commitment to invest in the next generation—students who will soon lead our businesses, serve our communities, and strengthen our shared prosperity.
