Building a Stronger Workforce for Our Region’s Future
The Greater Susquehanna Valley Chamber of Commerce continues to make workforce development a top priority, and next week offers two exciting opportunities to see that commitment in action.
On Monday, November 3rd at 12:00 Noon, your Chamber is partnering with the Lackawanna College–Sunbury Center for a student-focused conversation on business ethics. This engaging discussion will feature Pennsylvania Senator Lynda Schlegel Culver (R-27th) and Rick Viello, Deputy Secretary of the PA Department of Community and Economic Affairs. Together, they will explore the importance of ethical decision-making, responsible leadership, and the high standards of professionalism expected in today’s workplace. Students will gain valuable insights into how character, integrity, and sound judgment serve as the foundation for long-term career success.

Then on Tuesday, November 4th at 11:00 a.m., your Chamber will roll out the Red Carpet for a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony at Berks Technical Institute (BTI) in Lewisburg. This special event celebrates the launch of a new HVAC career pathway, which will provide students with the technical training and credentials needed to enter one of the region’s most in-demand skilled trades. This program marks a major step forward in addressing local workforce needs and ensuring a steady pipeline of trained professionals who can build and maintain the critical systems that keep our homes and businesses running.
These two events, one focused on ethical leadership, the other on practical career preparation, reflect the Chamber’s renewed emphasis on workforce development, recruitment, and retention, one of the two key pillars in our newly refined strategic plan for the year ahead.
To learn more about this strategic plan and how we’re shaping the region’s shared prosperity, please plan to attend our 104th Annual Meeting on November 19th. Details about this event and all upcoming Chamber programs are available at gsvcc.org.
By working together, our best days lie just ahead.
