“A thankful heart is not only the greatest virtue,
but the parent of all the other virtues.”
- Cicero
We give thee thanks…thanks for your membership, your partnership, and most of all your friendship & support. You are the reason why we exist. We thank thee, indeed.
“Holiday shopping is off to a good start,” was how Sarah Nassauer characterized the pre-Black Friday shopping data being reported by the world’s largest retailer, WalMart. Writing in the Wall Street Journal, Nassauer said, “shoppers weighed down by higher prices for many everyday necessities are still opening their wallets.” At WalMart, they’re reporting to investors that the 4th quarter is already showing 5.3% growth as compared to last year.
Much closer to home, and reporting from a slightly smaller than WalMart retailer, Ciao Bella Boutique in Selinsgrove, Stacey Napoli posted on social media that ‘Pink Friday’ (that is the Friday before Thanksgiving) was a huge success. We thank Stacey for bringing ‘Pink Friday’ to our attention. Watch for November 21st next year (11/25/2024) when we take Stacey’s Pink Friday idea across our valley.
Your Chamber is partnering up with the Bucknell Small Business Development Center (SBDC) to promote Small Business Saturday coming up later this week. Check out all the resources available to you which are now available for you. No matter if you are a small business, a ‘solopeneur,’ a pop-up/start-up, a multi-generational small business, or a shopper recovering from the blatant commercialism of Black Friday, you’ll find helpful marketing and successful small business resources at: bucknell.edu/sbdc/#smallbusinesssaturday.
Live, eat, shop, play local and our best days will lie just ahead.
