Yep, I had a hoot making this recording with Maria, John, and JP. Nicer people you will never meet than the Shimock’s. From the moment I first stepped in the door at Shimock’s Furniture World I’ve been made to feel like I’m part of the family. Sure, I was a customer, but even though we had just met I could tell that these were people who I was going to be friends with first. In large part, that’s because they treat everyone, most importantly, their employees as friends, as they would like to be treated.
Please accept this personal and heartfelt invitation to come on over to Mount Carmel this Friday morning for the gala grand opening and red-carpet ribbon cutting of Shimock’s Furniture World. That right, this is a brand-new business—with a very familiar name.
Shimock's Furniture World is celebrating the Grand Opening of its new location in Mount Carmel starting with a red-carpet ribbon cutting on Friday, September 8 at 11 a.m. located at 121 East 5th Street.
Shimock's has been serving the Susquehanna Valley since 1915. John Shimock along with his son, JP Jacoby moved their retail business location from Kulpmont back to where they began in Mount Carmel. This lower anthracite region borough is where Shimock’s Furniture World got its start more than a century ago.
Friday’s gala event kicks off a weekend-long set of festivities. The ribbon cutting and building tours commence on Friday followed by drawings for thousands of dollars’ worth of merchandise and prizes throughout the weekend. The store will also be open on Sunday with special hours of 12 pm to 5 pm.
Shimock's has been "selling happiness" since 1915 and welcomes all of its customers, neighbors, vendors, and fellow Chamber members to come on over to see for yourself what building a business…people-first looks like these days.
One thing is certain when you stroll through Shimock’s Furniture World and that is: Our Best Days lie Just Ahead.
