he good news landed at your Chamber earlier this week that long-time Chamber member and former Transportation Committee Chair, Ben Reichley, has been named the Associate of the Year by the National Utility Contractors Association (NUCA) of Pennsylvania. Anyone who has met Ben, or listened into the On The Mark radio program on 1070AM on Friday morning’s is fully aware that Ben is a tireless advocate for the construction industry and one of the Greater Susquehanna Valley’s biggest and best cheerleaders.

The annual Associate of the Year Award is given to a NUCA Pennsylvania member who has made significant contributions to the underground utility contracting business and to the association during the past year.  The 2021 Associate of the Year recipient is Ben Reichley of LB Water.

Reichley is the Public Relations Manager for LB Water, a firm founded by Reichley’s grandfather Lehman B. Mengel in 1970 in Selinsgrove, PA. LB Water now has ten locations in Pennsylvania, Maryland, and Virginia. The company is a value-added distributor of waterworks infrastructure products, for potable, sanitary-sewer and stormwater projects. Also, LB Water distributes water specialty products, water metering equipment, meter data systems, along with leak detection management and non-revenue water systems.

Ben accepted the award on behalf of LB Water, which has shown its commitment to the utility industry for over 52 years and has been a long-time active member of NUCA Pennsylvania and NUCA nationally. Reichley’s association with the company goes back to 1974, when he spent five years as summer help, often riding the LB Water delivery trucks to the job sites.  He basically grew up in the construction industry.

After graduating from Juniata College in 1984 with a BS in Marketing and Communications, Reichley founded and operated Contek/Agtek which developed and supplied technology products to the construction industry throughout the entire United States and Canada. He returned to LB Water in 2010 and assumed his current position in 2012.

Ben has been a NUCA Pennsylvania member and active in NUCA nationally for decades. Ben traces his own personal involvement back to 1985, attending NUCA statewide and national events with Contek/Agtek and TOPCON, often taking part in panel discussions, legislative meetings, and industry events.

Elected to the NUCA PA Board of Directors in 2018 and is a continual guide on legislative and regulatory issues affecting both Associates and Contractors, Ben also serves on the board of directors of the PA American Waterworks Association.
