Given ten minutes, I could probably come up with another dozen or more statements that I could exclaim, without reservation or hesitation, about the Small Business Development Center, better known simply as the SBDC.
Our local center at Bucknell has been your Chamber’s advisor, partner and go-to for business expertise for decades. From its inception with Charlie Coder at the helm, to as recently as yesterday with Steve Stumbris as our key contact, we know that we can ‘lean on the SBDC’ when it comes to new business start-ups, entrepreneurship guidance, and trusted counsel.
One thing I know for sure is that Steve would insist that the Bucknell SBDC’s success is in large part due to the commitment and wisdom of his staff, so please allow me to mention them each by name: Amber Amato de Guerrero, Denny Hummer, Ian Proud, Maureen Hauck, and Shelly Gadoury. On behalf of your fellow Chamber members, please accept our gratitude as we offer you this toast: “The best thing about a job well done is to have done it. Indeed you have. Cheers!”
So, on this day of celebration for our beautiful SBDC and on the eve of the Feast of St. Patrick may I, offer up to each of you this Irish proverb: “You’ll never plow a field by turning it over in your mind.” In other words, if you have a business idea, maybe an entrepreneurial inspiration, why not stop by the Bucknell SBDC and give it a whirl?
