Bob's Just A Word: Learning Never Exhausts the Mind

Learning never exhausts the mind. - Leonardo da Vinci

Last week at the ribbon cutting for Lewisburg’s Bluebird Atelier (pronounced: uh-the’-lee-ay), I found myself standing alongside PA Rep. David Rowe (R-85th) and directly behind four bright eyed and enthusiastic children, it dawned on me that these kids loved learning. If you look carefully at the ribbon cutting photo, you witness what da Vinci spoke of in his quote about learning not being exhaust, but exhilarating. These children were literally teeming with joyful learning, confidence, and an excitement for this great new addition to downtown Lewisburg.

As summer camp season rolls around at places like the Bluebird Atelier, it occurs to me that this is a great opportunity to reach young people, who are overflowing with thoughts of their futures, to let them know what a great place the Greater Susquehanna Valley is.  Easy fixes for our chronic workforce shortages are few. Long-term and visionary solutions, such as those that make up the core of Atelier owner Jessi Almstead early childhood education mission will reap benefits.

Another exciting and long-term impactful opportunity in our valley is One Million Cups. This program, which is affiliated with the Bucknell SBDC rolls into your Chamber on June 8th. As always, we’re on the lookout for start-up businesses who want come by to ‘pitch’ their product or service. For more details please visit: https://www.1millioncups.com/susquehanna
