The nominations process for the board members of your Chamber of Commerce are prescribed in the By-Laws, Article V, Sections 3-5. Following these steps, Board Chair Aimee Buehner appointed Immediate Past Chair, Art Thomas as well as former Chairs Sue Greene and John Uehling to serve as this year’s ad hoc Nominating Committee. This committee scanned the general Chamber membership and is pleased to place into nomination two deserving individuals. The terms for both are for a 3-year term as Director expiring in December 2026, with the possibility of one additional 3-year term.
The nomination for an open Director position in Region I (Eastern Snyder County), is Sharon Sorg, Publisher of The Daily Item. For the Director in Region V (Montour County) Roger VanBaaren, of the Geisinger Health Plan has been nominated. Sharon is relatively new to our area, serving as the Publisher for The Daily Item and The Danville News. She has expressed her interest in getting actively involved with all that’s going on in our valley. Roger has served in an appointed post with the Chamber Board this past year, filling an unexpired term of one of his Geisinger colleagues who accepted a PA Chamber Board position.
With this Nominations Report, the ad hoc committee’s work is now complete. At this point, Article V, Sections 6 and 7 will be followed. These Sections prescribe the process to make further nominations from the general Chamber membership. In the event that no additional nominations are made, the ballot will be deemed to be closed and these nominees will be elected by acclamation with their terms beginning on New Year’s Day.
