THE NORTH STAR AWARD

The National Court of Honor introduces a new award to join the prestigious Silver Beaver, Silver Antelope, and Silver Buffalo awards. This award is for non-Scouters. Councils, areas, regions, and national may use this new award to recognize individuals for significant contributions such as contributing land for a new service center or for someone who has supported the council in many different ways for years or for use at a Distinguished Citizen Awards program. This award is on par with the Silver Beaver which recognizes registered Scouters for their distinguished service. Only those contributions made as a non-Scouter may be considered for the North Star Award.
The Susquehanna Council is proud to recognize J. Donald Steele, Chairman of the Board at The Northumberland National Bank with a 2023 North Star Award. Don is a graduate of Susquehanna University with a BS in Business Administration. He is also a Certified Public Accountant. He holds numerous professional affiliations and has 29 years of bank experience.

THE DISTINGUISHED CITIZEN AWARD
The Distinguished Citizen Award Reception is an annual event hosted by the Susquehanna Council, Boy Scouts of America which honors an individual who has provided significant and enduring contributions to the community and who embodies the principles and values of the Scouting program and thereby serves as an exemplary role model for our young people. Recently retired Senator John Gordner fits the description perfectly, and he enjoyed participating in Scouts with his Eagle Scout son.
