Event Description:
The Greater Susquehanna Valley Chamber of Commerce will facilitate a conference call with Mr. Doug Sherman, Chief Counsel of the PA Gaming Control Board. The purpose of the call is for Mr. Sherman to inform municipal leaders about the expansion of gambling opportunities throughout the Commonwealth under House Bill 271, which amends the Pennsylvania Race Horse Development and Gaming Act.
Specifically, Mr. Sherman will speak about Category 4 slot machine licenses and Section 1304.1 (A.1), entitled the “Municipal Option”, which provides municipalities the option to prohibit or opt-out of, the siting of a Category 4 facility within that municipality.
Under the law, municipalities wishing to exercise this option must adopt a resolution and deliver it no later than December 31, 2017 to the PA Gaming Control Board, making the conference call a critical opportunity to gain valuable information.
